VACANCY  DETAILS: 

  • Location: Downtown
  • Position Type: Full-Time / Part -Time, Permanent
  • Duration:10-12 hour shifts ( Overnights )
  • Compensation: $19 - $20 per hour 
  • Requirement: One-year experience in a Security Operations Centre ( SOC ) environment is preffered.

KEY PURPOSE:

The SOC/Control Room Operator will be the central monitoring and coordination point for all physical-security operations at the facility. This person continuously monitors video feeds, alarms, access control systems, and  incoming telephone and radio communications and will be responsible for coordinating,  in real time with on-site security personnel, maintenance personnel, and emergency responders to maintain a secure environment, across the contract portfolio. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor live CCTV/VMS feeds for suspicious activity, safety hazards, security incidents and operational issues.
  • Manage alarm systems and access control events: acknowledge, verify, escalate, reset sensors, and investigate alarm histories.
  • Dispatch and coordinate guard/mobile patrol responses via radio, telephone, or security software; track officer location and status.
  • Maintain real-time incident logs, occurrence reports, and shift handover documentation; assist in evidence export and playback when required.
  • Remain alert at all times: verify alarm/exception notifications with immediacy and priority, decide appropriate action, escalate per Post Orders.
  • Provide technical first-tier troubleshooting and reporting of security hardware/software glitches (e.g., offline camera, sensor fault) and liaise with IT/integrators as needed.
  • Uphold client/site standards: privacy/confidentiality, follow building management protocols and support emergency drills.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement: identify patterns of false alarms, suggest system/process enhancements, and build strong relationships with adjacent teams. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
  • Comfortable working in a 24/7 shift environment.
  • Ability to operate multiple software systems concurrently (VMS, alarms, access control, reporting tools) and learn new ones quickly.
  • High level of situational awareness, able to remain sharply attentive over long periods.
  • Clear, professional communication, via phone, radio, or written reports.
  • Calm under pressure; ability to rapidly assess situations and follow escalation paths.
  • Proven attention to detail: noticing small anomalies, maintaining accurate logs.
  • Strong team orientation and willingness to coordinate with other departments. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous control-room, dispatch, or SOC experience.
  • Familiarity with video management systems and access control systems.
  • Experience in construction or campus security environments.
  • Understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Fire Panel signals.
  • Additional certifications: First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Fire Safety, Incident Command.
